(1)元素地球化学性质与成矿:研究了金、铜、铼、硫等元素在岩浆演化过程的性质。利用微量元素和矿物包裹体限定白云鄂博超大型矿床各种年龄的地质意义,详细论证了沉积碳酸岩被与火成碳酸岩有关的流体交代的成矿模型。

(2)大陆地壳的形成:用大陆超深钻实际样品和高温高压实验验证了Nb, Ta, Ti这些长期以来被认为最不活动的元素,在金红石出现前具有很强的活动性。指出大陆地壳所特有的低Nb/Ta比值和负异常特征是在板块俯冲早期Nb, Ta通过在温度梯度下发生不均衡脱水作用发生分异的结果,从而为揭示大陆地壳的成因提供了强有力的限定。

(3)中国东部中生代大规模成矿与板块俯冲的关系:发现中国东部中生代很多重要的地质事件都与太平洋板块俯冲方向的变化有关,其中在125 百万年太平洋俯冲方向发生了约80度的转变,导致了中国东部由拉张转为积压,在此背景下形成了与压扭性破碎有关的胶东金矿;系统研究了长江中下游埃达克岩、A-型花岗岩、岛弧钙碱系列岩石以及矿床的分布,结合对太平洋板块俯冲的研究,提出长江中下游大规模成矿与洋脊俯冲有关;根据中生代岩石年代分带、矿产分带并与东太平洋俯冲带的矿产分带进行对比,提出华南中生代大规模成矿与太平洋斜向俯冲有关;从元素地球化学性质入手,系统研究了埃达克岩成因与铜金成矿的关系。
